                                             Humanity thanks you

Ricky, now renamed Bucky, has been adopted to loving and devoted people who adore him.  After a rocky start in the rescue, he has truly overcome all worries and concerns and is now a spoiled and doted upon lap cat whiling away the hours in the top of the cat tree and spending his nights cuddled up in bed with people who think he is truly fabulous.  What a lucky cat!

Blackie
was abandoned at the dump by her family and she was forced to fend for herself for 3 full years. After being rescued, given shots, chipped and a clean bill of health, she has found her forever home in Marin with a family that loves and worships her. Renamed Blossom because of the great strides she's made reacclimating into her new surroundings, she continues to reach new plateaus every day.

Linus,
the little lion Maine Coon mix we rescued from animal control, has been adopted to a wonderful and cat loving couple!  We had many calls to adopt this beautiful and sweet cat, but held out until the perfect fit came our way.  You may catch a glimpse of Linus basking in the sun through a window if you stroll through Cole Valley!

Goldie a 9 year-old Manx was dumped at Animal Control after her person died.  Being declawed on all 4 paws and passed up for adoption time and time again, she languished at the pound until Urban Cat took her in.  She was in such poor shape at first, but eventually blossomed into a very social and affectionate cat.  She was adopted into a quiet and peaceful home where she is thriving and enjoying all the good things life has to offer a spoiled housecat!

Mimi is an 8 year-old cat we rescued from Animal Control after being dumped by her person because she was afraid his new dog!  Mimi had been adopted as a kitten, declawed, then eventually dumped at the same pound she had been adopted from as a kitten.  Luckily for her, The Urban Cat Project saved her and eventually she was adopted to a nice woman with a big house in San Bruno.  Despite what she has been through, Mimi blossomed quickly and we were amazed at how playful she was at 8 years old!

Blue,
a pure-bred Blue-Point Siamese we rescued has been adopted!  Blue, being only 10 months old, and so stunning to look at was coveted by many until the perfect home came along.  The woman had always wanted a Blue-Point Siamese but unwilling to buy from a breeder (thank you!) she couldn't resist when she saw Blue available for adoption. Once they met, it was love at first sight for both of them.  Blue now keeps company with a loving couple of humans and 3 female rescued cats!

Little Henri was rescued from a shelter in Fresno where he had resided for 2 years!  The Urban Cat Project took him from the shelter in hopes of finding him a loving home.  At only 4 years old, this declawed mini Maine Coon mix was so special and so sweet he ended up living with our director until he was adopted.  Adopted in June,  Henri is now "King of Nob Hill," enjoying his own person and getting treated as Royalty!

Tonka,
our purebred 9 year-old Tonkinese rescued from a pound in Chico has been adopted!  Tonka was purchased as a kitten from a breeder, declawed at 3 years old, and dumped in a pound at the age of 9.  Terrified and alone, the shelter chose to call for rescue of this cat.  Once safely in our San Francisco facility, Tonka was admired by many.   Tonka, unlucky in his early life, but the luckiest boy now, is living in Aptos surrounded by caring and kind people and their 2 dogs and 2 cats.  Tonka's story is one of the most touching we have had.  Cats like Tonka are the reason The Urban Cat Project exists.

Jasper,
a loving and sensitive, gentle giant lap cat supreme, was dumped at the pound at the tender age of 3.  Lucky for him though, he was rescued and then adopted to a loving and doting woman with a large sunny flat.  Jasper now sleeps in the lap of luxury!  Jasper also has the distinction of being the 100th cat rescued and adopted by our organization.

Little Abigale, dumped at the pound like so many other cats, declawed and frightened and on the euthanasia list, was rescued by us and adopted to a lovely and compassionate couple.  Abigale is like a little Angel who made it through a difficult time with flying colors!  She is now being loved and cherished for the first time in her life.

Suzi

Timmy

Timmy and Suzi, brother and sister Holstein Cow look-a-like cats were surrendered to us at the age of 13 due to their guardian's advanced Alzheimer's disease.  Both cats were very much loved by their person and loved by all here at The Urban Cat Project.  We had them for almost 8 months without any calls until a loving and compassionate couple heard their story and were moved to meet them.  Timmy is an outgoing intelligent boy full of love and life!  His sister Suzi a shy lap cat with a loud purr and a gentle soul.  They were adopted, and now live in San Francisco in a sunny and open home ready to start the second chapter of their lives!  We commend and congratulate the couple who are now sharing their lives with these special and lucky felines!

Shelby
was relinquished by someone to Animal Care and Control in San Francisco because they had no time for her.  Neither did Animal Control or the San Francisco SPCA.  At 12 years old, she was now on the euthanasia list.  The Urban Cat Project rescued her and swiftly adopted her to an elderly woman.  It is indescribable how much these two were meant to be together.  Both of their lives were saved.

Kahlua is a 10 year old Siamese who was dumped at the City Pound for someone's allergies.  She had been neglected and her claws had all curled into her pads. We rescued her and cared for her and while several people came to potentially adopt her, it was Kahlua who decided whom she wanted to spend the rest of her life with.  Kahlua decided it would be a couple in Aptos who stumbled upon her picture while searching for a kitten to adopt.  It was love a first sight for both of them!  Kahlua has now joined a loving family and shares her life with another cat and 2 dogs.

Tigger was surrendered to the Urban Cat Project when his elderly guardian could no longer take care of him.  The condition in which Tigger arrived to us was appalling.  He was emaciated and severely ill.  We immediately took him to the vet and he was diagnosed with advanced Lymphoma.  He lived the next 6 weeks with our director until he passed away peacefully.  Tigger will never be forgotten.

Josie is a 22 lb hunk of Maine Coon who was homeless after his guardian passed away.  This loving declawed cat was adopted to a family in the Berkeley Hills to join their home of 2 cats and 2 loving kids.

Duke
is a great, young, friendly cat who found himself several times being given away through no fault of his own.  We are sure this is his last and final home!  Duke was adopted to a loving and caring woman in San Francisco.  She was going to foster him, but fell in love and after 1 week called to say she will be keeping him.

Mochi's story is truly rags to riches.  This cat was surrendered to the King's County pound after his person went into a nursing home.  The shelter had housed him in group housing, and he had not been checked on for some time and was actually dying from severe malnutrition, dehydration and heartbreak.  Once at The Urban Cat Project, he was nursed back to health and life by a volunteer, and ultimately after making a miraculous full recovery, he was adopted into a loving home to a doting and caring woman with another special needs cat.  Mochi turned out to be a great snuggler and a big sweetheart!

Gorgeous Beatrice, a cat with a wonderful and loving disposition was rescued from Animal Control.  This loving girl has one of the most beautiful coats we have ever seen, and was adopted to a lovely couple in Twin Peaks who said it was love at first sight!

Little Maxwell, a darling and cherished boy rescued from Animal Control has been adopted!  He is just a young kitten really, only 1.5 years old.  This cat has a great purr and and sweet disposition, and is now basking on the lap of his new person who adores him.

Herbie
the Love Bug was rescued from a local pound.  What we didn't know is that he is a true ambassador cat ready to greet each person he meets!  Herbie The Love Bug loves people, other cats, and even dogs.  He was adopted after several months with us and now lives with 2 other cats and a big dog. His new person reports Herbie enjoys whiling away the hours in a ray of sun, sleeping on her chest at night, and really has lived up to his name!

Gracie
is a tiny, fluffy 5 year-old black and white Emerald green-eyed doll with such an extraordinary personality filled with love and affection she is hard to resist! She is a dream cat who found her dream home and is now living with another cat, a dog, 7 birds and a loving family.

Dewey is a fantastic, loving, sweet, affectionate, declawed 4 year-old boy rescue from a girl who was giving him to the Pound because she "moved."  Dewey the Fantastic was one lucky cat to have found us and was adopted to a cat-loving couple and their long-haired black cat named Kodiac.  What a pair!

Little Mia, only 11 months old, was found by a local rescuer in a rough neighborhood after being hit by a car. The rescuer took Mia to the ER where she was operated on.  Two months later, this young Balinese mix was headed to her new home happy and healthy.  We are hoping for a love match between Mia and the couple's Chocolate-Point Siamese!

Roxanne,
a sweet, innocent little cat was rescued from a shelter and brought to The Urban Cat Project because she was terrified at the city shelter.  Roxanne, only 4 years old has been declawed and was bounced around to different homes before landing at the pound.  Once out in her large cottage with us, she blossomed into a beautiful flower and was adopted to a woman who was her perfect match.  Her new person calls her a "Little Starlit."

Tortilla
the tortie, a very sweet 11 y.o. declawed girl, rescued from the local pound, has been adopted!  We were pleasantly surprised how many people were interested in a senior (but healthy) cat.  Tortilla was adopted by a lovely local woman and her sweet black cat named Shadow.

Niko,
the gorgeous 10 year-old Maine Coon was sent to the Pound when his guardian had an allergic new baby.  Niko was very confused, heartbroken to be sure, and was on the "list" at the pound until we came in and took him to our program.  A tremendously special, loving and unique cat, Niko had many offers for adoption.  He did, however, melt the heart of all of us here and was adopted by two volunteers in our organization.  He is slowly learning that he is loved dearly, and that the next 10 years will be better than the last!

Buster
is a sweet docile 5 year-old declawed cat we took out of the Oakland pound.  This large hunk of love didn't take long to find a loving forever home with a cat-loving woman in San Francisco who had been searching for sometime for a companion for her sweet cat Edie!  They are truly a match made in heaven!

Sasha
aka Sashalei is a 2 year-old Egyptian Mau sent to us from our partner organization in Israel.  She is a tiny little lithe athletic girl who is a bit shy at first, but loves like no other once she gets to know you.  She was adopted to the same person who adopted her sister Sahara from us last year.  Ironically, the Mau is the fastest domestic cat on earth and they share their home with a rescued Greyhound, the fastest domestic dog!  What a team!

Bambi, a 5 year old declawed cat was found by good Samaritans in a park in San Francisco.  They immediately saw how sweet and tame she was, and brought her to shelter for her to be claimed or adopted.  But neither happened.  She was covered in a shell mat, and being declawed, was not made available for adoption.  We were called to take her and once in our shelter, she was shaved and soon after, spotted on our website by the same couple who recently adopted Teddy!  She now lives in sunny San Mateo county sharing her home with two other cats and 2 humans.

Little Angelina, truly an angel, was saved from a kill shelter along with her sister Lena.  Angelina, although declawed last year by her previous person and turned in to the pound for an allergic baby, thrived in our shelter!  Our Director became very attached to her, but was thrilled to adopt her out to a lovely, calm woman in Half Moon Bay looking for a sweet and loving lap cat.

Tauser,
a sweet and gentle cat with a ton of character has been adopted!  This boy waited a long time to find his new home which came in the form of a lovely couple in a large sunny home who are lavishing Tauser with the love and attention he has not had in some time.  We look forward to keeping in touch with his new parents and watching him blossom!

Sweet Sahara, an Egyptian Mau, sent to us from our partner organization in Israel, has been adopted!  She is only 2 years old, and just the sweetest little cat.  Being such an active breed, it took us a while to find the perfect home for her where she can romp and play and enjoy the pleasures of a good life.  She is now living in Marin in a huge home spending her time with 2 rescued Greyhounds and a sweet cat (not to mention an animal-loving couple!)

Lily
is a gorgeous Maine Coon we rescued from the Pound after she was dumped because her person had "no time" for her.  At only four years old, she was turned down by the SF SPCA because she was declawed.  But all this bad luck turned into good luck for Lily!  She was adopted to a lovely couple in Mill Valley who love cats and were looking for a second cat to round out their family!  We now call her "Lily of Mill Valley!"

Our dear Hani has been adopted!  She is a young girl we rescued from our partner organization in Israel.  She is a lovely, active and very intelligent cat who loves people and other cats.  She is now living in with a woman and 2 other rescued cats!  If you look closely, you may see Hani lying in her window perch in Pacific Heights basking in the sun.

Pixie and Piper, mother and son, 8 and 9 years old, 2 of 5 cats dumped at Animal Control 2 years ago by the same person, were with us for 6 months prior to being adopted.  After 8 months, they were returned to us as the person was unhappy with their shy demeanor.  Never have we seen a mother and son so bonded, so sweet, yet shy of people.  Unsure of what to do with them, having no space in our shelter available for them and wondering if they were even adoptable, the Secretary of The Urban Cat Project agreed to foster them.  Initially, they were just as shy and fearful as the previous adopter said, but little by little, they began to blossom.  They are now loving, affectionate, and seek out the company of their new human companion.  Apparently all they needed was someone to understand them and allow them to be themselves.  They are now officially adopted by our wonderful Secretary!

Lena is one of the luckiest cats alive!  She was on the euthanasia list at Animal Control and we swiftly took her into our program.  What a sweet-heart she is, a little Manx who acts like a little clown!  She was adopted in one week to the same couple to adopted Rolo from us over a year ago.  She now spends her days lounging in the sun on a cat tree, and her nights under the covers purring the night away!

Robby is an 8 year old Norwegian Forest Cat dumped at the SPCA front door in a carrier in the middle of the night.  The SPCA immediately sent him to Animal Control where he was put on the euthanasia list.  Animal Control called us to rescue him, and he was adopted in 3 weeks to a lovely woman who lives in the South Bay who was looking for another cat to round out her family.  If you check out our adopted page, you'll see her cat Sadie who she adopted from us several years ago!  Robby and Sadie, what a gorgeous pair!

Alistair
is a true survivor, a wonderful cat, and a great companion.  His story begins when he was dumped at the Pound several years ago, rescued by The Urban Cat Project, adopted, returned to us, then adopted again.  After two and a half years he was once again returned to us, but this never stopped him from loving everyone he met.  He has now been adopted again, but this time we are sure that he has found his forever home.  He now lives in Glen Park with an animal-loving couple and their little Chihuahua.

Boomer
is an 8 year old Maine Coon mix we rescued from a shelter.  His personality matched his good looks and it took no time for him to be adopted to a woman wanting to add a cat to her family.  Although sadly declawed on all four paws, this sweet cat has a loving a trusting disposition.  Boomer took no time at all to adjust to his new home as he is being lavished with the attention and love he deserves!

Sir Riley
is a pure-bred 3 year-old blue point Siamese saved from a local Pound.  He is such a lovely, active cat, and believe it or not, can be taught tricks just like a dog!  He was adopted to a home with another Siamese and an animal-loving couple who are enjoying watching the two cats run and play!

What a love is Sammy! This young boy was rescued from Animal Control after being found in someone's garage.  Sammy is the sweetest boy, an active playful and gorgeous tabby who was adopted to a couple in Noe Valley who had recently lost their cat to cancer.  Sammy now lives in the lap of luxury enjoying his time with a doting couple and a long haired grey tabby.   What a pair!

Yafa's story is true rags to riches!  This 3 year old Birman was left in a night drop box in a high kill East Bay shelter.  When we were asked to help rescue cats, Yafa was one of the lucky ones.  She stayed with us for 4 months and one day, waiting for the perfect home.  When a good friend of the man who adopted Tippy from us 2 years ago inquired about Yafa, we realized her dream home had finally come.  Yafa was flown from San Francisco to New York, where she now lives the life of Riley in a huge Colonial house with gorgeous gardens to view and a couple who couldn't be happier!  Yafa is one lucky girl!

Sierra is a little fairy-like tortoiseshell rescued from a local Pound.  Because of her declaw status, she was not chosen to be available for adoption there and we quickly brought her to our shelter.  Sierra is one of the happiest cats we have ever met!  She is curious, active, sweet, and a total lover!  She was adopted to one lucky man who found exactly was he was looking for.  The two of them happily share a beautiful apartment on a sunny and bright street in San Francisco!

Sweet Tashi was on the euthanasia list at the local shelter because he needed some dental work.  Unfortunately, the SPCA declined him for the same reason.  Initially he was surrendered due to a grandchild's "allergies."  We knew we couldn't let such a fabulous cat die, so he came to The Urban Cat Project and his teeth were tended to.  Although many people were interested and came to see Tashi, it turned out he had found his new home where he was, with his foster Mom!  She loved him too much to let him go, and now he has finally found his home, living in a huge house getting to know her other 3 rescued cats!

Minnie
is an 8 year-old declawed tiny cat dumped at the Pound because the couple's baby had asthma.  She was on the euthanasia list as were the other two cats the couple dumped as well.  We were able to save Minnie, and she was swiftly adopted to a lovely couple in Marin as a companion cat to their other rescued feline.

Snickers is a charming, young, Maine-coon kitten, 10 months old, we rescued from a Pound.  He is amazing and sweet, and kind, in spite of his past.  This young boy was adopted in January '06, declawed, then dumped back in a high kill Pound in August because his person decided she did not want him anymore.  He was adopted to a woman who loves cats and he adjusted to his new home in days!  He now lives in Pacifica with two other rescued felines enjoying  the ocean breeze!

Professor Minky is a 5 year-old Himalayan dumped at a shelter due to "allergies."  He had an abscess in his mouth so the shelter put him on the euthanasia list.  We took him out, had the abscess tended to, and this lucky boy was adopted within a week to a woman in Marin with a gorgeous home and a beautiful young Siamese for The Professor to play with!

Simon is a 2 year-old Snowshoe rescued from a Pound.  He is an active and curious boy who wanted a home with another cat so they could romp around and play!  He was adopted to a woman with another young cat, and he now sleeps on her bed after a hard days play.

Sweet Cocoa, a 5 year-old declawed tortoiseshell was found wandering in someone's garden.  After 2 weeks of being fed by someone, the person took her to the Pound where she was never redeemed.  This sweet girl was rescued by us and now found her forever home in a sunny neighborhood living in the lap of luxury with a wonderful couple and their 2 rescued dogs and a white cat named Mango!

Scamper is a 3 month old friendly kitten found at 6 weeks old in a rough part of town.  She is all things kitten, but especially remarkable because she has no fear of anything or anyone.  It took a while to find her the right home, and now she lives with a doting couple who had recently lost their 19 year old cat.  Scamper is one lucky girl!

Sweet Max, is a 4 year-old declawed boy who we rescued from an East Bay Pound.  It is always hard to decide who to save but Max's sweet and gentle nature caught our eye.  He was adopted to a couple in Marin and now spends his days looking out the window at the lush hills, listening to the birds sing, and being very loved!

Rolo was rescued from a Pound after being dropped off due to "allergies."  He turned out to be truly the finest most loving and interactive cat in the World!  He is 8 and sadly declawed, but it hasn't stopped him from being super athletic, agile and able to jump onto the tallest dresser with a single bound!  Rolo has the best personality of any cat we have ever met, and was adopted to a couple in San Francisco with a large flat, cat trees, and a whole lot of love.

Theodore
was adopted to a lovely animal-experienced couple and 2 little dogs in San Francisco!  After having a rough time finding his permanent home and having been returned several times, we are confident that our lovely 9 year- old Maine Coon Teddy the Cat is now loving his new digs!

Little Bit was rescued after enduring appaling abuse by her guardian. 15 years old, she now lives in Marin County with several other cats and two chihuahuas. Her new dad adores her and reminds her every single day how important she is, how special she is, and that he will protect her forever. After months of recuperation, she is fiesty, friendly and on her way to trusting people again.

Phoebe is a 9 year old Blue-Point Siamese rescued from a shelter.  She had been dumped off there due to someone's allergies.  Phoebe was clearly a pampered pet, and was confused and bewildered at the Pound.  We quickly took her out before it was too late, and luckily for her she was adopted within 3 days to a woman who recently moved here from the East Coast and was missing having a cat.  Phoebe now lives in a beautiful place on the Bay and is again a pampered and loved feline!

Snowball is a delicate beauty dumped in a night drop box at an E. Bay Shelter.  At 8 years old she was overlooked and was on the euthanasia list until the shelter called us to take her.  We knew she would be adopted quickly given how beautiful and sweet she was.  She now lives in the Marina district in San Francisco with a couple who loved her instantly!

Pal is a 9 year-old declawed boy who was brought to the pound by a neighbor of a woman who moved and left him behind in a Tenderloin Hotel.  He is truly the nicest, sweetest, loveliest lap cat in town!  There was no question that we were going to save him.  He was adopted to a kind woman who recently lost her beloved cat.  Pal now lives in a huge flat spending his days in the sun!

Sweet little Kiki is a 3 year-old declawed girl who was dropped off at the Pound by a woman with children who didn't want a cat anymore.  She is the sweetest little angel cat, small, soft, adorable, and still just a kitten!  She was adopted by a woman who fell in love with her instantly who had been searching for some time for a cat just like Kiki!

Mika
is a 3 year-old declawed very unusual looking girl rescued from the pound.  She has been bounced around too
many times in her young life so we were looking for her lasting, loving home.  She was adopted by a couple who have a very similar looking boy cat; what a beautiful pair!

Margaret was dumped in a shelter for that oh-so-common reason:her guardians moved and didn't want to take her and her siblings with them. At 6 years old, she sat and waited in a cage for almost 3 months while her siblings were adopted and she was left behind. She is EXCELLENT with  other cats, loves to be held and picked up, and purrs on a dime. Margaret is a very sweet soul who was loved by all the volunteers in the shelter and was known as "the sweetest girl." She adapts amazingly well to new surroundings and is curious and playful. An easy-going cuddle cat who has now found her permanent home.
