Who We Are
Founded in 2004, The Urban Cat
Project is an all-volunteer animal rescue and advocacy organization based
in San Francisco, California. Our mission is to rescue cats from euthanasia
in local shelters and find them loving, permanent homes. We advocate to end
the use of cats in medical experimentation, classroom dissection, the fur
trade, and to end the abuse of cats around the world.
We also educate the public about the need for responsible cat guardianship,
spaying/neutering, the perils of declawing, and the need for a lifelong commitment
to the animals. We house our rescued cats in our private small shelter,
and pay personal attention to each cat until he/she is adopted. We are unable
to take cats surrendered by the public. Our goal is to see an end to the
suffering and abandonment of cats through rescue, adoption, education, and
advocacy.
